Shamarukh Mohiuddin

Shamarukh Mohiuddin is an expert in catalyzing cross-sector partnerships for development and equipping businesses to be drivers and advocates for inclusive and sustainable growth. She is a Principal Associate at Nathan Associates, a leading international development consulting firm. She manages U.S. led public-private partnerships in the Asia Pacific region as well as advises the U.S. government on women’s economic empowerment activities. Her current focus includes helping the U.S. reach its policy objectives at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and in South Asia on trade and development issues. She also advises and implements development projects for private sector clients such as The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Fortune 500 companies. Shamarukh is the Co-chair of the Society for International Development (SID)’s working group on Corporate Role in Development and an Advisory Board Member for Women Forward International at the Aspen Institute. Previously, Ms. Mohiuddin served as the Director of Economic Empowerment at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, as Senior Advisor at WEConnect International, as Executive Director of the U.S. Bangladesh Advisory Council, as Director at Fontheim International and GlobalWorks Foundation, and as a Research Associate at Progressive Policy Institute. She also founded a nonprofit, Lift Up Asia, to support garment workers in Bangladesh. Ms. Mohiuddin holds an M.A. in International Relations and South Asia Studies from Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and B.A. and B.S. from the University of Maine. She speaks Bengali, English and intermediate French and Hindi.
